Challenges in Diagnosing and Assessing Generalized Pustular Psoriasis Choon Siew Eng, FRCP
Hospital Sultanah Aminah Johor Bahru and Clinical School Johor Bahru, Monash University Malaysia Generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) is a rare systemic inflammatory disease characterized by cutaneous erythema and sterile pustules. Its diverse presentations make diagnosis challenging. Previously, PASI and PGA were used to assess severity of GPP but they do not evaluate pustulation, a key feature of GPP. GPP-specific tools, such as GPPGA and GPPASI, offer better severity assessment but do not measure systemic manifestations. This presentation explores the challenges in diagnosing and evaluating GPP severity, clarifies diagnostic criteria, and distinguishes GPP from similar conditions. It aims to improve clinician confidence and enhance patient care through more effective diagnostic and assessment strategies.
